Industrial Addiction

Sisters Machine Gun Goes Black And White

by Ambient Decay on December 11th, 2007

“Jimmy Urine would get his ass kicked in an Industrial Music Contest by Sister Machine Gun. – Anonymous Youtube User.

That my friend’s was one of the first things I saw when looking up this glorious band. I thought it was fairly correct and funny, plus, I wouldn’t even consider Mindless Self Indulgence industrial. They’d better be considered EMO if I had my way.

Now Sister Machine Gun has been around for years… and years. I’m not really an avid listener to this band but I do listen to them when I listen to Ministry. These bands are closely classified together and have brought a new feel to the industrial genre.

Now, this music video is hah well nothing less than, normal industrial quality (not very good). Nevertheless, the song is very intoxicating if you understand what the artist is really trying to say. It’s funny how a decent song can always have a shitty video. I guess poets and visual artists really are in their own group despite the fact they both share a common ground.

Imagination.

“EMO” is short for emotional. This means that they take themselves seriously. Anyone that is even slightly paying attention knows that MSI does not. So get a clue. MSI has no category. They are their own thing altogether. See the show because if you’re not in on the joke, you are the joke.

True, Emo does stand partly for “Emotional” but you are forgetting the other part when it comes to the musical category rather than the scene.

It stands for “Emotional Hardcore”. Also, if a band isn’t able to be in a category, then how would you classify a band? Furthermore, how can a band NOT be classified?

Even indie bands are classified due to the very nature of how the human brain works in conversation and the need to keep things organized. If MSI was a complete joke and didn’t take anything seriously, then I highly doubt they would have been able to make a demo that allowed them to get signed.

MSI is very hard to categorize and yes, they can possibly be put into a category of all their own, but so can Emilie Autumn, however, I still stand by my statement that MSI is not industrial.

As far as seeing the show, I’d rather spend my money on GWAR. Thanks for the forethought Jenn :).
